Amber Throat-Charmer
“Amber Throat-Charmer” is an old City expression for ale or stout. In normal usage it denotes a pint of the beery liquid.
A common phrase heard in the City’s drinking halls would be “Dear Publican, pull finger and serve us some more of your finest Amber Throat-Charmer!”.
The term is closely related to the expression “Amber Nectar”.
Example usage:
“Buxom serving wench, kindly favour me with a jerobaom of your finest Amber Throat-Charmer!”.
