Pussy is a slang expression for vagina.

The origin of this expression is shrouded in mystery but the prevalent theory is that it is derived from the Germanic “Puss”, which is a generic calling name for cats as in “Come her, puss, puss”!

A more speculative explanation of the etymology of Pussy is that they both purr when stroked.

Incidentally, a German slang  word for vagina is “Muschi”, which is also a name for a female cat, similar to the French term “Chatte”, which literally means “a female cat” as well as being a slang expression for the female genitalia.

Famously one of the best loved Bond Girls is Pussy Galore, which is also a popular name for bars and clubs around the world.

Pussy is also an insult which means coward or scared-y-pants.
